• Composite Veneers - "Componeers"

• This involves using a tooth-coloured filling material which is adhered in the form of a coating on the surface of the teeth.

• Before we place Veneers a lot of factors are to be considered- such as your gum health, bite pattern, tooth alignment and finally patient expectation. Any artificial cosmetic treatment always demands special post treatment care- by which we mean excellent oral hygiene and regular dental checkups.

Pros

• Procedure can be completed in one or two visits
• Economical
• Can be easily repaired
• Less tooth enamel has to be reduced compared to porcelain veneers

Cons

• Not as wear resistant compared to porcelain
• Can stain over time if proper hygiene is not followed

• Porcelain Veneers

• These are Veneers that are made of ceramic or porcelain. They are usually custom made by the dental lab and require 2 visits.

Pros

• Very natural looking
• More resistant to staining
• Less tooth structure grinding compared to caps

Cons

• Not very economical

Technique

The dentist first prepares the teeth by removing a small amount of the tooth enamel to make space for receiving the veneers. Then a mould or impression of the teeth is made and sent to the dental lab for custom veneer fabrication. Meanwhile you may be given temporary veneers.

The next visit involves a trial fit of your veneers, minor adjustments, and cementation.
