Tooth Extraction means removal of the tooth from its socket in the bone. Typically after extraction there is a considerable reduction in bone volume (bone width and height). This can make it difficult to place a new tooth at the empty site. Hence all measures should be taken to preserve the bone that would be the foundation of the new tooth (especially implants).
